Six volunteers from the Clyde Maritime Trust visited our Norfolk Street/Bridge Street project to oversee conservation repairs and learn traditional building skills.
The visit was organised by The Glasgow City Heritage Trust which supports the regeneration of historical buildings within Glasgow.
During the visit, the volunteers learned about traditional building techniques as well as the history of the tenements` baroque architecture.
They also had an opportunity to view the existing roof which is constructed with large timbers using methods which were traditionally used for ship building.
The project has a budget of over £400,000 and is jointly funded by Glasgow City Council and The Glasgow City Heritage Trust.
The Trust offers grants towards external improvements works on traditional buildings whilst supporting complementary initiatives to increase understanding and awareness of Glasgow`s rich heritage.
The CBS Norfolk Street/Bridge Street project in Laurieston, encourages the knowledge and traditional skills required for the conservation, repair and maintenance of the historic built environment.
