CBS are proud to support Gas Safety Week 2017. Running from 18-24th September, the annual event aims to raise awareness of gas safety and reminds us to have our gas appliances safety checked annually by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
Since Gas Safety Week started in 2011, support for this national safety campaign has grown, with organisations of all sizes and types coming together to help keep the nation gas safe.
The annual event raises awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.
From heating to cooking, we use gas appliances every day. We want you to be able to use your gas appliances safely and without worry. To do this, everyone needs to follow some gas safety rules.
Get an annual service

Find a registered engineer in your area by using the online search or by calling 0800 408 5500.
Check for warning signs
If you notice a yellow flame instead of a sharp blue one or if there are any stains or black marks on appliances this may be an indication that they are not working properly.
Install an audible carbon monoxide alarm
The alarm will alert you if there is any carbon monoxide poisoning in your home.
If you smell gas or think you may have a gas leak somewhere then you should immediately call the National Gas Service Emergency Line on 0800 111 999 (This is a 24hour emergency number).
