The project managed by Wiseman Associates Building Surveyors and partially funded under Glasgow City Council grant repair scheme was for the re-roofing and fabric repairs of a four-storey red sandstone tenement building in Airlie Street, Glasgow.
CBS worked closely with the client and the co-owners to carry out the work minimising disruption to the residents and public during the work.
Scope included lead replacement, replacement of cupola and trims, chimney repairs including replacement copes and pots, stone indent replacement and conservation lime mortar repairs and pointing, dry rot repairs and associated insurance backed timber treatment work with substantial repairs to the internal fabric. All work was completed while the building remained occupied.
The scale of CBS`s construction activities bring many benefits, including job creation and regeneration of local communities. As such, we have a responsibility to ensure that our impact creates a positive legacy and this project was no different. Working with our partners in the supply chain, CBS employed an apprentice joiner as a direct consequence of the project, and we were also able to offer work experience to local people.
